List of Lottery Games in Western Canada

The Western Canada Lottery offers a variety of games for players to choose from. We’ve gathered a list of the most popular ones. Check it out:

Lotto Max

Lotto Max is a national game and one of the most popular lotteries in Canada. A ticket costs CAD 5 which gives you three shots at the jackpot by giving you three sets of numbers. The jackpot starts at CAD 10 million and can grow to a maximum of CAD 70 million.

To play Lotto Max you need to choose 7 numbers from 1 to 50, which you can do yourself or by Quick Pick and having done that you will receive your ticket with 2 further Quick Pick sets of 7 numbers.

There is also an opportunity to play Extra – an add-on game which can be added to various games and costs an additional CAD 1 for which you will be allocated a seven-digit number to win the CAD 250,000 jackpot if your numbers come up.

When the Max jackpot reaches CAD 50 million you will automatically be entered for the MaxMillions draw that gives several more chances to win CAD 1 million prizes.

Lotto 6/49

Lotto 6/49 is another national lottery game in Canada. Its minimum jackpot is CAD 5 million which continues to grow from draw to draw and a ticket costs CAD 3.

The idea of Lotto 6/49 is to personally choose six numbers from 1 to 49 or do so by using the Quick Pick option. Everyone buying a ticket is also given a 10 digit number for the guaranteed CAD 1 million prize draw.

Extra is also available to add to this lottery for CAD 1.00.

Daily Grand

This is one of three national lottery games in Canada. The main prize is CAD 1,000 per day for the rest of the winner’s life and for second prize CAD 25,000 per year for the rest of their life. If there are multiple winners the jackpot is divided between them.

A ticket costs CAD 3 and to play you need to choose five numbers between 1 and 49 and one ‘Grand Number’ between 1 and 7. This can also be done by Quick Pick randomly.

Again, for an additional CAD 1, you can enter the Extra to try and win the CAD 250,000 jackpot.

Players can enter Daily Grand and use the same numbers for 13 weeks in a row by using what’s known as ‘Advance Play’.

Western Max

Western Max is a game that is exclusive to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. It can be played in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Its jackpot is a divisible CAD 2 million.

Tickets cost CAD 2 and to enter you must choose seven numbers between 1 and 50 or opt for a Quick Pick. You are also entered for 14 additional draws to win CAD 1 million with the same numbers.

If you pay an additional CAD 1.00 you will have an opportunity to enter the Extra game and try to win a jackpot of CAD 250,000.

Players can also select ‘Play Both’ on their ticket to be entered for Lotto Max at the same time.

Western 6/49

This is one more lottery game that was created by the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, available in the same Western Canada territories as mentioned above. The jackpot of this lottery is CAD 2 million. There is also a second prize – a fixed CAD 50,000. Both prizes are divisible.

Tickets are CAD 1 and to play you need to choose six numbers between 1 and 49 or use Quick Pick.

Again Extra is available for CAD 1.00 and gives a chance to win a jackpot of CAD 250,000.

Pick 2, Pick 3, Pick 4

Pick 2, Pick 3 and Pick 4 are three similar lottery games. The idea is to choose 2, 3, or 4 numbers from 0 to 9 accordingly.

The maximum prize for Pick 2 is CAD 99.00, for Pick 3 it is CAD 5,000. If you play Pick 4 you can try to win CAD 5,000 as well.

Extra can be played alongside these lotteries and costs CAD 1.00 with a jackpot of CAD 250,000.

Poker Lotto

Poker Lotto is a lottery game that consists of two parts. The first part of the game is Instant Win, with players winning a cash prize if the lottery console displays a winning poker hand at the time of purchase. The second part of the game is a traditional lottery draw, with players needing to match the cards on their ticket with those drawn that evening in order to win the jackpot. Each play costs CAD 2 and contains 1 poker hand although you can play up to three hands per ticket. The biggest instant prize is CAD 10,000 and the jackpot of CAD 100,000 is divisible.

In addition to this, you can choose to go ‘All-in’ for another CAD 1 which allows players to win an increased instant win prize than normal.

Scratch and Win

Scratch and Win is a lottery game where players buy scratch cards and then scratch off panels to reveal prizes. These can be played at any time.

Play the Western Canada Lottery Responsibly

Players should always purchase tickets from authorized retailers. They should never give their personal information to anyone who contacts them unsolicited and offers to sell them lottery tickets.

Players should never purchase tickets from websites that are not authorized by the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. These websites may be selling fake tickets or they may be trying to scam players out of their personal information.

To ensure that you play responsibly follow our tips:

  • Set a budget for how much you can afford to spend on lottery tickets each month and stick to it. This is always a risk to lose money so you need to make sure you don’t lose everything.
  • If you start to feel like you’re spending too much money on lottery tickets, take a break for a while. There’s no shame in admitting that you have a problem and need to take some time off.
  • Never borrow money to play the lottery. This can lead to serious financial problems if you can’t repay the debt.
  • Only play lottery games that you can afford and never spend money on lottery tickets that you can’t afford to lose.

If you keep these tips in mind you will be able to enjoy the fun of playing lotteries and stay safe.
